Top Things To Do This Winter Season in Minnesota

Winter is a truly unique time of year here in Minnesota. There are so many fun activities to keep us busy all season long! Here’s a list of my family’s favorite ways to spend quality time together during the snowy months.
Local Festivities. Minnesotans sure know how to have wintertime fun! These bright, cheery festivals are perfect for the whole family.
Minneapolis Holidazzle: This festival highlights all Minneapolis has to offer. Holidazzle features ice skating, local food, and craft vendors, and a kids’ area.
When: Thursdays through Sundays, November 23 – December 23
Where: Loring Park, Downtown Minneapolis
Saint Paul Winter Carnival: In addition to a variety of arts and crafts vendors and kids’ activities, this event also features live music, an ice sculpture garden, and three different parades!
When: January 24 – February 2
Where: Rice Park, Saint Paul
Holiday Shows. If you and your family are looking for a special indoor activity, try a holiday show. This winter, the Children’s Theatre is presenting How the Grinch Stole Christmas through the holidays and Mr. Popper’s Penguins Jan. 15 – Feb. 24!
The Guthrie Theater’s holiday show this year is A Christmas Carol, and the Ordway Center is putting on Elf the Musical all December long. Also, check out the Hennepin Theatre Trust schedule. They’re hosting multiple noteworthy holiday shows and concerts!
Winter Weather Activities. Bundle up the family and get out there for all the activities that are best suited for the winter months. There are lots of options for ice skating in the area, and skiing or snowboarding at a nearby resort is sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.
If you’d like to stay a little closer to home, just grab your sled and find a hill in your neighborhood or build a goofy snowman with your loved ones. You’re never too old to go out and play in the snow!
Quality Time with Family. After a “hard” day of romping around in the snow or checking out a local festival, it’s time to relax! Build a fire and make some hot cocoa with marshmallows. Once everyone’s settled in, pick out a festive movie to watch together.
