We often take time in the month of February to show our friends, family, and loved ones how much we care. This Valentine’s Day, Shamblott Family Dentistry is partnering with Dentistry from the Heart to once again show their love to the local community, providing free dental services to those who need it most.
Built on the importance of giving back, philanthropy and community service are a top priority at Shamblott Family Dentistry. Dr. Shamblott was the first dentist in the state of Minnesota to coordinate an event with Dentistry from the Heart, holding his first event in 2007. This is the 12th consecutive year the practice has held an event with Dentistry from the Heart, donating hundreds of thousands of dollars in dental services to the local community over the years.
Helping Communities Across the Globe.
Dentistry from the Heart (DFTH) is a nonprofit organization that helps bring free dental services to families in need. DFTH partners with dentists, hygienists, and volunteers to put on events at practices around the world and has provided tens-of-thousands of people with millions of dollars in necessary dental care over the last two decades. These events provide vital dental care and education to individuals and families without the means to regularly go to the dentist.
Dentistry from the Heart was founded in 2001 by Dr. Vincent Monticciolo as a local charity event in New Port Richey, Florida, a suburb of Tampa. On Valentine’s Day of that year, Dr. Monticciolo opened his dental practice to those in desperate need of care, and he and his staff offered their services free of charge. This initial event was an overwhelming success, attracting hundreds in the surrounding communities, and led to events being held around the country.
Dentistry from the Heart is now a worldwide nonprofit organization, with more than 300 events held annually throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Ireland, Australia, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and New Zealand.
A Reason to Smile. In addition to providing much-needed care, DFTH events give patients a reason to smile again. The majority of patients cared for during these events are in pain and have been for a very long time. This is a chance for them to receive an extraction, filling, or cleaning without worrying about being able to afford the treatment. These procedures can do wonders to lift their spirits and relieve some of the day-to-day stressors that poor dental health can bring on.
This Year’s Event.
Shamblott Family Dentistry’s 2018 Dentistry from the Heart event will take place on February 14th starting at 7a.m. This is a one-day event meant to serve new patients in need of free dental care. All services will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, so no appointment is required. Patients will not be asked for identification or proof of income. Dr. Shamblott is proud to serve his community and hopes other dentists in the area will also open their doors to those in need.
